HOF Member

Congratulations on being a HOF Member.

Please take time to read all below as it contains significant information that will require decisions to be made that can have a major influence on the HOF and its future.

I am requesting as it is the beginning of the calendar year to request that our $10.00 dues be paid to support mailings and recognition to the passing of a HOFer with flowers / plants at their funeral or a $$ donation to a charity of their choice be sent to 2480 Victoria Street Marion Iowa 52302. It is requested that all checks be made out to the Iowa Men’s Fastpitch Softball HOF. Also be aware that over the past 25 years as President of the HOF we as a group have donated thousands of dollars to the ASA and ISC Young Men’s Fastpitch Softball programs. Thank-you for your support as it has been a dominant reason we have been able to function over the past 25 years.

Many of you may recall this past fall Tom Peterson and I made an effort to transition our communication mode from paper letters via the US Postal System to e-mailing communications. The decision was based upon rising costs associated with the postal mailings. Tom and I were able to obtain from the HOF membership what we considered to be an accurate e-mail address listing. In a trial e-mail list sent out to the members last fall we requested a response of “got it “ to our e-mail so we could establish that our e-mail list was valid. We received responses from less than 30% of the e-mail that was sent out. With that low % of response Tom and I came to agreement that e-mail communication was not going to work as an alternative to the postal mailings. Tom has put a bit of work into testing if phone texting would be a more reliable solution. Tom and I along with some HOF members we used for the texting trials have determined that texting is the best solution to our communication needs. We believe members pay more attention to their texting resource than they do their e-mail monitoring.

With this in mind we are requesting each member to text to the following two phone numbers so we can establish a phone number text file. Please send to both phone numbers and type in the message Your HOF Name and phone number. If you cannot text please call Tom or myself.

To remain a continuing functional HOF we need this texting exercise to be successful. If we fail it may be a signal that the HOF may need to consider shutting down. We need a signal that shows high interest in keeping the HOF active.
